Physician Assistant I
Located in Boston, MA, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute, an affiliate of Harvard Medical School is committed to providing expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Physician Assistant is responsible for assisting the Program attending physicians in the medical management of inpatient hematologic (including BMT) oncology patients. Patients are admitted to Dana-Farber and Brigham and Women’s Cancer Center for initial diagnosis, treatment, complication of their disease and for elective chemotherapy. Primary responsibilities include admitting new patients, ongoing medical management of complex patients and assisting the primary multidisciplinary team in the continuum of care including discharge planning.
The PA has expert knowledge of inpatient general medicine and has been exposed to oncology preferably in the inpatient setting. Incorporating knowledge of general internal medicine and medical complications unique to oncology patients will be emphasized in day to day management of patients. In addition, the PA is an intricate member of our inpatient PA services and will have the opportunity to collaborate and cross train with all of our inpatient teams. The PA works closely with the physician and nursing staff in developing and coordinating a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required. The Mission, Vision and Core Values of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute are incorporated into all areas of practice.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT – ROBOTIC SURGERY
DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is the largest privately owned nonprofit cancer center in the world with one of the largest robotic surgery programs in the northeast.
We are currently seeking a full time Physician Assistant to join our robotic team. This candidate will work within a multi-physician and multi-service practice environment in the operating room. The Robotic Surgery PA will primarily assist in Thoracic, Urological, and Gynecological oncology based procedures. In addition, this PA will also surgically assist in newly developing robotic specialties such as Colorectal, Hepatopancreatobiliary and Head & Neck services.
Principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assist with OR case set-up
Assist with minimally invasive surgery simulator training as needed
Collaborate with members of our multidisciplinary team regularly in preparation for robotic
procedures

This PA will provide medical care for both the pediatric and adult oncologic orthopaedic population.

Summary: Provide healthcare services under the supervision of a physician. Provide direct and indirect patient care including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation of individuals. Provide comprehensive health assessments in the diagnosis, treatment and outcome management of specific patient populations. Function in collegial relationships with members of the health care team.
Requirements: Successful completion of a formal nationally accredited educational program for Physician Assistants required. Previous experience in hematology and oncology required. Experience in a directly relevant setting preferred.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of state and federal regulations. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Critical thinking skills based on research and evidence-based outcomes, and Standards of Practice. Expertise in clinical skills related to the patient population being served. Competency in decision-making for emergent situations. Competency in the management of critical patient situations. Knowledge of how to access and utilize available resources. Knowledge of system policies and procedures. Demonstrate patient advocacy which ensures patient’s rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
